Lots of, shall we say, over-zealous answers here.
Text in quotes from the HarperCollins Bible Dictionary
Phil 3:5 - "Paul's pride in his membership in the Pharisaic party"
This does *not* indicate that he was of the priestly class, but only that he was educated in the doctrines of the Pharisees, which differed significantly from the other two major sects of Judaism of the time, the Sadducees and the Essenes.
Act 26:10 - "is sometimes interpreted to imply that Paul had been a member of the Sanhedrin. This seems unlikely, since Paul could scarcely have omitted such an achievement from his list in Phil 3:5."
Act 18:3 = "Early in his life, Paul learned the trade of tentmaking and leatherwork."
Note that there is no indication that his *family* had anything to do with such occupations.

There is a question that arose in Bible study; What was ( Paul) Saul trade as a young man.?
He had knowledge of tentmaking- his family were tentmakers, but Paul was raised beside and behind a religious leader. That is why he has such a knowledge of the Torah, Pentateuch and all the wisdom of the Jewish people. He was a member of the pharisees when he was called to Christ on the road to Damascus.
Reply:He started out as a tent maker and then got into a job chasing after Christians - and proudly boasts that he kept look-out while Stephen was being murdered. The rest is history.
Reply:he was a tent maker, as well as a pharisee who studied under Gamaliel
