Bible Study? What is the difference between the sheep and the goats?
The sheep are the nations that believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God %26amp; trust %26amp; obey Him. And the goats are the nations that reject Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God %26amp; persecute the Church.

The sheep who trust %26amp; obey the Lord will help those in need, %26amp; Jesus said that this is helping Him. The goats will imprison or kill Jesus followers, %26amp; they are actually doing this to him. Paul the Disciple actually was a goat until He turned to Christ.
Reply:a sheep is a sheep nice and fluffy, and a goat is a goat nice a goaty
Reply:The sheep are the righteous and the goats are the unrighteous. When Christ was resurrected, he sat at the right side of God as King. Jesus is currently separating the sheep from the goats, which was to take place before "the great tribulation." This is how we know "the great tribulation" is just around the corner.

By choosing God's rule, they qualify to be put on the "right hand" of Christ as he separates "the sheep" from "the goats." In his prophecy about the last days, Jesus foretold: "All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate people one from another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. And he will put the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left." The sheep are humble people who associate with and support Christ's brothers, submitting to God's rule. The goats are stubborn people who reject Christ's brothers and do nothing to support God's rule. With what result? Jesus said: "These [the goats] will depart into everlasting cutting-off, but the righteous ones [the sheep] into everlasting life."—Matthew 25:31-46.
Reply:Jesus told a parable of separating the sheep from the goats: The sheep fed the hungry, clothed the naked, took care of the sick and visited the prisoners. The goats did none of these things. Jesus said to the sheep that whenever they did those things for the least of his brothers they did it for Him. He welcomed them to heaven. As for the goats -- he rejected them. What do our works show? Are we sheep or goats?

As originally used in the The Bible, the house of Israel are the Sheep, everyone else are the goats.

Examples:

The Bible Ezekiel 34:30-31

Then they will know that I, the LORD their God, am with them and that they, the house of Israel, are my people, declares the Sovereign LORD. You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are people, and I am your God, declares the Sovereign LORD.' "

The Bible Matthew 25:32

All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats

An example of how Jesus used sheep when instructing his disciples.

The Bible Matthew 10:5-7

These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions:

"Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, preach this message: 'The kingdom of heaven is near.'

Another example of Jesus making the distinction between Sheep ( The house Israel ) and others ( Goats ).

The Bible Matthew 15: 21 - 28

Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is suffering terribly from demon-possession." Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us." He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." The woman came and knelt before him. "Lord, help me!" she said. He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to their dogs." "Yes, Lord," she said, "but even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their masters' table." Then Jesus answered, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

The Sheep are of the house of Israel and the Goats are eveyone else. The difference is the Sheep are the chosen and the Goats are not.
Reply:Sheep need a shepherd to lead them to pasture. Goats find their own way.

Many biblical references to sheep and Christians - Shepherd and Jesus.

Goats doing their own thing and non believers doing their own thing.

In the judgment the sheep and the goats will be separated.
Reply:Sheep are Christians. Goats are animals.
Reply:The sheep are those who do what Jesus told them to do - feed the poor, clothe the needy, etc. The goats are those who do not. Sheep get into heaven, goats are sent away. It's in Matthew 25:31 and forward.
Reply:Sheep are the ones that read the bible.

Goats are the ones the people in the bible killed.
Reply:I'm not sure what you mean; you need to elaborate on your question a little more.
Reply:Matthew 25:33 - And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Matthew 25:31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. 34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me. 37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? 38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? 39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee? 40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. 41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: 42 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: 43 I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. 44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
Reply:Fundies have no problems with the bible suggesting donkeys, snakes, and bushes could talk , and as no one is ever shocked by this assume talking animals were commonplace in biblical times. That being the case, the talking sheep may have been sacrificed to keep them from talkin' if you know what I mean. Dead sheep tell no tales. Since all the talking animals were executed, none survived to pass the "talking gene"hence animals do not talk to this day, and sadly many sheep sexually abused. That's where the title "Silence of the Lambs" came from
Reply:Assuming you mean the passage in Matthew 25 the answers to what Jesus was referring to is in the rest of the chapter. We can tell a sheep by their willingness to help others without thinking about what's in it for them. They will give food to the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, invite in a stranger, give clothing to the naked, take care of the sick, and visit the prisoner in prison. (Matthew 25:35-6) Not only will they not think about what's in it for them, they won't even realise that they are doing these things! In verses 37-39 they righteous respond to Jesus' by asking the question "when did we do these things?" So, a sheep is a person who does these things out of love. They do it as a natural response to what Jesus does for them. In essence they are so overflowing with love from God that it must find its outlet in helping those who Jesus himself identified with - the needy and outcasts of society.

On the other hand, we can tell a goat by the exact opposite means! In the account, Jesus says exactly the same things about them, but in the negative. They did not give food to the hungry, or drink to the thirsty and so on. And their reaction to this further incriminates them. They reply, "When did we see you?" These people couldn't even see the opportunity to serve Jesus in these situations let alone act out of love in them.

The fundamental difference between sheep and goats is that the former act out of love the latter don’t see the opportunity to do so.

The sheep distingush themselves in helping these least ones in their circumstances without knowing what their relationship is with Jesus or Jesus view of the one(s) they helped. Mathew 25:40
