What study Bible should I get.....?

i want to buy a study Bible, but don't know which one to buy, where, and how much it will cost. if you can help, i'd appreciate it.

What study Bible should I get.....?
get a good translation of the bible....NAB (new american bible) the Jerusalem bible and RSV (revised standard version) are good translations of the bible....i would also get a catholic addition, just because it has the 7 books that the reformers removed after being in the bible for more than 1500 years!! whether you are catholic or not...the books are good to read.

pick a bible that has newspaper type columns, they are easier to read and makes passages easier to identify, use bible tabs so you'll be able to find verses quickly, and finally get a bible with cross-reference and footnotes and same page, it will be easier and faster....as far as cost goes...book stores vary, but if you do decide to get a catholic bible, which is the same as the protestant bible accept for the 7 extra books in the old testament, you can get one from any catholic church, and usually they leave it up to you to donate what ever you are comfortable with, and if you can't afford it, they'll give it to you.

Edit: forgot to tell you to stay away from KJV (King James version) many errors are found in those.
Reply:KJV

Published by either Cambridge, Oxford or Church

expect to pay around 75-100 dollars

you really do not need a study Bible, just get a KJV Bible and a concordance and read from Gensis to Revelation, when you run accross something you do not understand, write it down and look up the words in the concordance, that might help, or just wait, God will give you the understanding next time you read it.
Reply:I would advise not getting a study Bible because the studies are written by someone who has been denominationally influenced. I would get the Oxford Annotated NRSV and join a study group. However it is translated at a 9th grade reading level and the average American reads at a 7th grade level so keep that in mind.

Edit: Whatever you do, do not get the KJV or the Living Bible.
Reply:It would depend on your age and religion. If you have a church find out which version they use such as the New American Bible. If you are a teen there are many great study bibles. Go to amazon and type in study bibles and look for one in your age group. Religion really doesnt matter except it makes it easier to discuss with others it you use the same one. Warning, if you have never seriously read a bible and you are young i dont think i would start with King James it's a little like shakespeare. Good Luck
Reply:A good study bible can cost you up to $100. I would recommend Dakes annotated, reference bible... John McArthurs study bible.

Do not get anything NIV...it is missing a lot of text and changes that arent just translation changes... it is an easy read, but the corruption is pretty deep.

Stay with KJV, NKJV, or NAS. .... These are as close to the original text as possible even though we still lose some meaning in translations...

I also try to stay away from anything published by Zondervan for the simple reason that they also publish the satanic bible. And other books such as how to raise your children in a homosexual family...... I just wont support their company even if the product is good...
Reply:I'd stick with either the KJV or NKJV. Dakes reference bible is a good one. Try browsing at your local Christian bookstore to find the best one for you. I found a great woman's study bible at my bookstore half price it was only 18.00. You can find a really good study bible without the big price tag if you just shop around.
Reply:NIV, or New International Version, is a good Bible to use as a study Bible. I'm not sure if you mean a Bible with specific information on particular scripture. But NIV is a good, modern English Bible. If you are Catholic, go with I believe it is a New American Catholic Bible. It's got red text for Jesus' words, and it's got a ton of information on both specific scripture and the books of the Bible. Its my main Bible, and I would recommend it to Catholics and Protestants alike, just for all the extra info.
Reply:The New American Bible has copious foot notes and explanations of thousands of scripture passages. It is easy to read and fun to use for study or research.
Reply:Get an annotated Jerusalem Bible. This historical and geographic information is the best available, and the footnotes on the translational problems of some concepts are the most up-to-date linguistic information.
Reply:This should be a great help - choose a bible version based on your purpose

Reply:Before you buy anything, why not ask some of your friends at church which ones they read, and ask if you can browse through it before you buy it.
Reply:Satanic Bible.
Reply:YOu don't need to buy one, you can get one for free onlline.
