I'm looking for a good study bible - one that is objective and clear. Which one is the best?

If you use a study bible, please tell me which one you use and why you like it.

If you have never looked at a study bible, please don't answer.

I use a KJV Hebrew-Greek Key study Bible. The key words are coded to Strongs Concordance, there is a Strongs in the back, a small lexicon, words of Christ in red, center column references, exigetical notes, grammar helps and maps.

I like that I can study in depth anywhere without needing to carry a whole library with me!
Reply:I like the John MacAurthers (spelling may not be right) Daily devotional Bible, it takes you thru the whole bible in one year with a reading and a study thought for each day.

This work is probably a smaller version of the MacAurther study bible which I highly recommend as well.

The NIV student bible is good, I have it on a CD Rom Verson for my PC, and I have also enjoyed the study of Gods Word from the NASB, KJV, NLT and the Message.

Tim Lahay wrote a book on How to study the bible, a good small guide to practicle bible study if your a first timer.

The Navigators have a great study course available at any Christian Book store. I personally would recommend you find a study in progress. Get LaHays book as it will teach you how to delevlope types of studys on your own.

I just remembered you are a young lady and I would also recommend the Womans Daily Devotional Bible, (this was the first bible I bought for my wife to read for daily devotional) in paper back available in NIV or NLT, with devotions from the formost past and contemporary Christian writers and speakers available.

Hope this helps and may God richly Bless you.

PS: You can also listen to a program by DR J.Vernon McGhee, called Thru the Bible radio (TTB.ORG) Dr McGhee was pastor of the Open Door Church in Los Angeles for many years and his program will take you through an indepth study of the word of God over 5 years. I am an older Christian and I love his southern drawl, and preaching style

Dr. McGhee is gone to be with the Lord now but his teaching still lives on in his radio brodcasts and now online and pod casts.

God Bless

B :)

PSS one other last piece of advise, when you get a good study bible (NIV is most popular) pay particular attention to the acknowledgements and how to use preface located in the front. The bible is a compilation of translated words, names may be hard to pronounce and the front of the book will describe the best way to use all the features it has, reference points, footnotes, marginal concordance, and comentary.

In writing this note I am so excited for you, to unlock the mystries of the word of God afresh, Pray before each reading of the word, ask the Lord to help you to understand, and be prepared for the adventure the scriptures will have for you.

The Lord Bless you Amen
Reply:Try the Quest Study Bible in NIV. I've been using it for my bible studies for about ten years now...I find it much clearer to understand than the King James and there are questions and answers about the text you are reading in the margins. I really like it.
Reply:I have a Nelson King James study Bible. It is awesome. There are so many reasons that I love this resource I would run out of room telling you. All I can say is check one out.
Reply:I like the Dark Bible myself...

the Jefferson Bible is a close second

and Gideon's Bibles being found to be used by arsonists in hotels is just classic blasphemy

Reply:I personally like "the student Bible" in the NIV version. It's pretty common, and it's really great.

Calvary Chapel also has alot of good stuff, they have audio Bibles (cd's software, books, etc.) and other study aides and materials that really help alot. Their sermons also cover the Bible verse by verse. I have learned alot from them. I would recommend googling "Calvary Chapel" and checking it out for yourself.

Best of luck.
Reply:Companion Bible.

It is annotated so you can often find out what the original language words are. The marginal notes are sometimes a larger portion of the page than the scripture itself. It was created by the famous linguist/Historian EW Billinger.
Reply:any study thomas the best put they are high any one help u

i do a lot my study u cross walk or gate way
Reply:Thompson Chain Reference Bible.
Reply:I really like the NRSV Harper Collins study Bible. My husband likes The Access Bible. They tend to use more modern scholarship, inclusive language (using human kind instead of man, which isn't usually a proper translation anyway), they provide good, solid information. If I were you I would stay away from the "niche" Bibles, they tend to be more conservative, and less thorough scholarship.
Reply:there's none, not one! If you want to get a clear understanding of what the bible is really all about, google Fritz Springmeier!

"be wise as serpents", 'the 13 bloodlines of the illuminati" and "the illuminati formula for creating a totally undectectable mind controlled slave" are 3 of his books! Of all the people I've read/studied he's the only one who I can't argue with!
Reply:I prefer to study from the Complete Jewish Bible but the Scofield Study Bible is also good.
Reply:King James Version

It is good because it is the most full because the King James person took the least stuff out of it.
Reply:Exploring God's Word is a very good and goes through most of the Bible step by step and is has an on-line study too with well set up links and good pictures

Reply:ESV, if it comes in a study bible.
Reply:THE BEST THREE ARE THE INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH VERSION with its simple english; then the New KIng James Version with its British english (intellectualization of the english language through drama/theaters) and maybe the Catholic Version of english from the majority christians. These three Bibles will give you good cross references.THANKS GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD; LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD.PLs visit my website-http://groups.yahoo.com/group/THEGOODNEW...
Reply:Just make sure that yours adheres to...

The ‘Holy’ Bible advocates the KILLING of 2/3s of ALL HUMANITY – me, just because I accept tons of scientific evidence over zero evidence of any of humanity’s “Gods.”

( So you call KILL ~3,964,961,381 and feel GOOD about it. )
Reply:I'm sure you won't like my answer, but the fact is NO Bible of any kind is objective and clear. Bring on the negative ratings!
