Atheists: DO you agree that "Bible Study" or Studying the Koran in earnest, could only lead to rejection ..

Of any religion springing from them? DO Cjhristians and Muslims actually read the tripe they claim to beleive in? It's pretty grotesque in many places, anti-intellectual in many others, and hatefilled, misogynistic , and just plain violent reading in many ways

Atheists: DO you agree that "Bible Study" or Studying the Koran in earnest, could only lead to rejection ..
Yes I do.
Reply:ha ha ha

I just asked something very very symilar

My question is 2 lines bellow yours :D
Reply:I rejected the notion of the christian deity when I was young and being raised in the religion. As I got older, through my own efforts and through college education, I got the 'whys'. The more I read religious texts, the more I see them as socio-political tools.
Reply:There are people who manage to read all through the Bible and Qu'ran without rejecting them so reading them completely through only sometimes leads to atheism.
Reply:people read into things what they want to read into things. It's funny to watch them scramble to dismiss things that are completely unpalatable or insist that we're "taking out out of context" or "not reading it correctly".

I mean what is the context or how do you correctly read "Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones."

Or is that just the old testament which we're supposed to ignore. Apart from the 10 commandments and that bit about homosexuality.
Reply:it would probably lead to rejection if you keep an open mind, i read religious texts all the time and the only benefits i gain is even more arguments against religion and religious zealots
Reply:Most of them don't read their lullabies books and they don't even know their religions they are lead by coformity and chauvinism it's why they are so blind
Reply:It is a possibility. It all depends on the reader , but its better if the reader is open-minded of the possibilities outside of the teachings and beliefs of his/her religion......

if only everyone were open-minded, then we would have never had any killings or will never have future killings just for the sake of one's "faith"...
Reply:what is the question again. ?
Reply:People who follow a religion usually read their so-called "holy book" with a biased eye; they only read good in every page, whether it's there or not.

.
Reply:If the students read without "rose-coloured glasses" and maintained an objective mind while reading ... yes. But if they insist on enforcing the observation that their religion is pure, beautiful and perfect ... (yeah, right) well, then they aren't even worth talking to. They're long gone.
