Professing "Christians" -- How often do you study the Bible?

I'm sure most of you have noticed the word "study" was replaced with read. I asked this question because I want to see how many people really study the Bible rather than just read it.





Think of it like this: Say you're learning a subject in school and the teacher asks you to read your textbook. But then later, there is a test on the subject. Is just reading the textbook going to help you pass the test? No, you have to study the subject in order to pass the test, correct?

Professing "Christians" -- How often do you study the Bible?
I read it almost every day, but don't study as often as I should because I do find it difficult to sit myself down and meditate on the Bible, without distraction.

Reply:I have been studying continously for the past 3 1/2 years...along with readings.
Reply:No because it's mostly fictitious, and a good book of fables. Most of it is figurative, but yet billions take it literally. The book has tons of blatant inconsistencies, yet billions ignore them. The book was written by men 2000 years ago, and has nothing to do with God.

Currently, I'm studying the book of Revelation, Mark, and the Bible subject of the ministry.
Reply:nice question Hannah,, Now what about reading with understanding then?? FOLKS can read the bible many times and still miss the key to understanding fully what it means.,





, I personally see in here soo many errors a child should see when reading scriptures. Why is it so much is misunderstood then?? WHY does Jesus say the Holy Spirit will lead u into all truth in John16 and yet professed christians still remain in darkness? /





It is interesting to take note JESUS had much to tell his deciples but in verse 12 of John 16. he explains they were not ready to receive it. The Holy Spirit HE would be the one to convict ,convince them of all truths and of of judgement that now they were not ready for!! .


Not meaning to sound Judgemental for I know myself I have faults too. Just when though will christians believe fully in what JESUS says? . I MEAN simply this another reader pointed out we are to study to show ourself approved and that is good but what about the ;rightly dividing ; the word of truth?


What does it take to examine what you believe right along side with what the old and new testament scriptures witness to us about?


DO we reject something we here because that is not how we were taught before?


Do we not have two faithful witnesses to show us from the beginning to the end just what took place throughout earths history?





Consider at creation for instance Why is creations account not believed by untold hundreds of thousands of christians today? Why is the account given that evening comes before the day and not vise versa not believed by christians today or say its unimportant?..





Why is it not believed it took just a literal 7 days of creation time? Do we not still have an evening and a morning then as it was stated in genesis?





WHY also is the fact God created a woman to be adams partner and said it was good but christians become divided on weather or not its ok that gays marry ?


I be just curious here as towhy people say that the bible is a good Book but it cant be trusted in all our decision making for it leaves out things that be happening around us today?





Is it the possible we have lost sight of the Holiness of God and have forgotten OF whom we belong too?,, DO we actually believe that God Himself who built our frame knows what He is doing?.


I know i am imperfect yes an I know of my own self i can do nothing also. ,I also know this thoughthat the GODthat created the universe wants tolive in me and recreate me from the inside out galations 2 -20 is awesome when u stop and mediatate on it





i am crucifyed,, meaning i be dead,, yet i live,, but not me .ITS supposed to be christ who now dwells in me through the indwelling OF THE Holy Spirit. and i live by faith in His power to keep me from falling..





SORRY ITS A bit long here but i have to say this,,YOU and I and everyone that accepts Jesus as savior HAS TO DIE to self so christ can live out his life within us,, .. remember the parable about the seeds? Mark 4 READ IT .

I study almost every day with a break some days.

Reply:I am an atheist and I have read the entire bible. I often know more about the bible than many of my Christian friends. If they knew some of the stuff that is in there, I don't think they'd stay Christian.
Reply:I can't say I study the Bible every day. Read it daily, yes. But I've also been involved in Bible study groups fairly steadily for a couple of decades now -- currently one in my parish that meets weekly. So probably twice to three times a week, I'm studying in-depth.
