Bible study passages?

What are some bible passages that are good to reflect on and discuss. I preferably want passages, not just one or two verses. Any kind, any subject that can be discussed.

Thanks.

Bible study passages?
Pick one of the minor prophets, like Amos, and scan through it quickly (do NOT spend time analyzing each word; you'll miss the forest for the trees), writing a short three-or-four word summary of every three or six verses.

Or do the same with one of Paul's books (Galatians, Ephesians, etc).

Or read through all of Acts and focus on some topic, such as the church's attitude toward communism, or toward immersion (erroneously translated as "baptism" by most versions), or watching for the difference between the all-Jew, Law-keeping church who kept the Mosaic Law as part of their Christianity, and the mostly-Gentile, non-Law-keeping church (from the very earliest days when Stephen's persecution drove Christianity to the gentiles in Antioch who apparently never kept the Mosaic Law as part of their Christianity).

Or scan the New Testament to see what the purpose of church attendance is (hint; it doesn't seem to be "worship", per se).

Or scan the New Testament for names of the church (hint; it's never "Presbyterian" or "Baptist" or "Methodist" or "Catholic").

Or scan Jesus' teaching to see what he focused on: was it putting money into the church treasury? was it avoiding divorce? was it racial prejudice? was it the essentiality of properly performing some rite, such as baptism or the Lord's Supper? just what was his focus? Was his focus different than the focus of the writers of the rest of the New Testament? If so, what does that mean, if anything?
Reply:A woman must receive instruction silently and under complete control. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man. She must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. Further, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and transgressed.

1 Timothy 2:11-14

Discuss and reflect on the foolishness and misogyny of this passage.
Reply:Psalm 37 -

Shows that evildoers will be done away with, the meek shall inherit the earth, and the righteous will live forever on the earth.

Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21, and 1st Timothy 3:1-5 -

All give evidence of the final time period before the "end of the world" as we know it will come.
Reply:how about the ones, talking of when Jesus met the Samaritan woman at the well, where He told her He had water to drink that if she drank that water she would never thirst again,

how about the book of Proverbs, where King Lemuel's mother tells her son about why not to use strong drink and wine, and not to give his sexual energy to women,

how about the passages that speak of the Sermons on the Mount,

the return of the Prodigal son
Reply:I've had a lot of good discussions about the verses in John 15 where Jesus says, "I am the vine, you are the branches . . ." It's verses 1-17. There's a lot of really good theological stuff in there and it kind of gives a glimpse of Christ's love and what that looks like.
Reply:The sermon on the Mount is always very good. Matthew 5, I think it is. And how about 1st Corinthians 13? Wonderful to meditate on that and realize Jesus has that sort of love for us.
Reply:How about Exodus 21:20-21?

It is the part of the Bible that says that it is OK to beat your slaves as long as they can get up within a couple of days.
Reply:In which bible, the 1611 kjv doesnt have Js in it . The name jesus did not exsist untill after that . So this means no one prayed in jesus name or was babtized in jesus name untill after 1611.
Reply:Genesis 34. Great story!
Reply:john 14.
Reply:Matthew 7. Log in the eye discussion. Always a good one to review for Judgemental purposes. We struggle there.
Reply:In church, we spend our entire session just talking about one little miracle Jesus did like feeding 5000 :] you can try one of those :]
Reply:u could try like, the 4th commandment or something.... if ur not scared ;)
