Have you ever been banned from the house during bible study or left alone in church halls as a child?

Do you think this is irresponsible parenting and did you get into any trouble during these times?

At 7 I was expelled from Sunday school for asking too many anti-religious questions, like "how come Noah didn't have any dinosaurs on board the ark?"
Reply:If that has happened to you I feel bad for you. I would never do this with my child. One time I was having a Bible Study and we were praying for a lady that was ill. God healed her and my children were so excited they went into their room and brought out their baloons and ran around the room. They could really feel the Holy Spirit there.
Reply:Uh, no. Sounds like someone's running a cult out there.
Reply:bible study is very important, but you have to have your relationship with god, then with your spouse, then your children. the bible doesnt say to leave your children alone during these things. this is a big mistake that will turn children away from god. how can we show them god without love for them
Reply:No, as I didn't do bible study.

I did, however, get left at church a couple of times as a kid, but it was accidental. Parents weren't irresponsible, they just thought I'd gone home with my grandmother and didn't realize I hadn't until they got home.

Didn't get into any trouble. Happened when I was really small, so I was kinda scared being in an empty, quiet, locked church with nobody around, wondering if my parents were coming to get me. The couple of times it happened, they found me crying on the church stairs leading up to the sanctuary.

Was too upset to do anything naughty, to say nothing of being taught to behave myself in church. :P
Reply:When I was four, I went to a pre-school run by the local Catholic parish. The church, primary school and pre-school were all on the same grounds. One of my brothers was in Grade 4. My Dad worked all day. My Mum had died two years previous.

The pre-school had a morning and afternoon session, with a two hour gap in between. I went to both sessions but for some reason there was a short period where I was left completely unsupervised during the break. I used to play in the playground and wander around the grounds. On one occasion I walked past my brother's classroom and his teacher brought me in, sat me in the corner and gave me crayons and paper to wile away the time.

One day I was wandering, hungry, and I walked into the church. The tabernacle was open and I peeked in. There was a bowl containing a few consecrated Jebus wafers inside. I'd never eaten one...communion doesn't happen till 8 years of age...but I'd often wondered what they tasted like. I thought they were like the crispy shell of chewing gum. I put my wee hand in and grabbed a few....just as I was putting them in my mouth the housekeeper from the presbytery (priests' house) caught me. She was mortified. So was I...the wafers were all stale and chewy.

I thought I was in big trouble, but soon I was sitting at the kitchen table in the presbytery with the bishop of the diocese and two priests...tucking in to a hot roast beef lunch.

This part is apocryphal, but I heard later that my father was roasted by the bishop. He said if he didn't look after us properly we'd (my brother and I) be put in the nearby Catholic orphanage. I even remember visiting it one day...all the nuns were very nice. Wonder if that would have lasted had we moved in?

A few months later my dad re-married and we were saved from the clutches of the nuns...
Reply:Who would do such a thing? If children are not welcome, or there is not at least a childcare program, then shame on that church or Bible Study.
Reply:no but i was left alone from my ride at church one time LOL. My ride left me cuz they did not want to wait for me.
