What would make you want to come to a small group Bible study? What would make you leave?

What would make me want to come is the desire to learn about the Lord and to share the love of Christ with likeminded people. What would make me leave is the hypocracy some people live their lives with and if someone insisted on ramming their own personal interpretation of the bible down my throat or used the bible against me to prove their point.

What would make you want to come to a small group Bible study? What would make you leave?
a) cute available women

b) bible study
Reply:Relevance to my life, good fellowship, and some refreshments.

Everyone should be able to ask questions, and say what they believe.

It also helps if there is a safe room with toys and an adult to supervise, if you must bring young children.
Reply:the small group

the bible
Reply:want to come: acceptance of all those who desire to dilligently seek the Word for gain of knowledge and wisdom concerning the Lord.

Want to leave: Personal agenda, criteria that is led by a man rather than the Spirit; failure to study scripture and prove by related scripture, judgemental attitudes
Reply:Come=Free Food+Sports game (i meet with a group every month)very comfortable situation like at sum1s house

Leave=some1 really bossy who tries to take control of a laid back situation, especially old ladies. Or if the place caught on fire
Reply:Seeking truth would make me go.Discovering lies would make me leave.
Reply:Nothing. If someone started yapping about God, I'd leave.
Reply:I can think of nothing that would make me come to abible study, since the sponsor usually has an axe to grind.
Reply:If someone asked me to come, I would come, but to keep me... someone would have to call and check up and make sure I am coming. I can get very busy sometimes and forget.

I would leave if the leadership was weak and not much studying was getting done. I like to fellowship when it is time for that not at bible study.
Reply:I would want to go to get more clarity on the teachings of Jesus,I would leave if I got anything less than that.
Reply:I would go to the study if it was a positive environment with objective learning being put first.

I would leave if I found it to be more of a gossip club.

Also, having small events for the club wouldn't hurt. You could do a potluck :-)
Reply:I would go if they were discussing something controversial and exciting. Not too crazy like abortion or anything, but something that would keep everyone engaged and thinking.

I would leave if the discussion became an argument or if people became rude to one another. You need to keep things controlled and polite.

Good luck- I don't think I could have been more vague.
Reply:metting new people, socializing before or after the study. I would leave if anyone in the study tried to push their opinions/answers to questions on me or was hogging the time instead of letting others share.
Reply:If what the group was studying was not in accordance with the true original Word of God. The Bible is generally not taught correctly but by what commentaries, theologians, and ministers have taught incorrectly over the last several hundred years...I don't know it all, but I think sometimes I know more than many preachers in some areas.
Reply:Go if invited by someone I already knew well, %26amp; leave because of wrong doctrine being brought into the Bible study.
Reply:Baked goods would lure me. The usual hypocrisy of Christians pulling up in their Jesus fish stickered Lexus SUV spouting about the poor people and how we should help them, but lets have some more bundt cake, would drive me away.
Reply:the friendship and the knowledge you find from it .

what would make me leave if it didn't line up with the Bible.
Reply:I would come if the group truly wanted to search for truth.

I would leave if they were closeminded to truths that can be proved.
Reply:I'd go to meet some new people but would leave it it got overly Jesusy.
Reply:an invitation to meet other Bible- believing Christians at a time convenient for me that offered activities/babysitting for my child. I guess I would leave if they broke out in tongues or started prophesying about me or others in the group. Also, if I noticed they weren't using scripture, or that they didn't believe that Jesus Christ is God or in the Holy Trinity, or salvation through faith in Jesus, then I would surely leave.
Reply:fellowship would make me come, jugdementalism would make me go
Reply:the only reason i went to a Bible study/sunday school was because they gave me food, and they had heating, and it was FREEZING out side.
Reply:Accepting me in what ever condition I was in and the worse off I looked the more love I would get until God Healed me.
Reply:I agree. I'd come for a good conversation, but would leave if things got really church=y and people started to pray or speak in tongues.

I was at a funeral (my first and only!) where people were speaking in tongues. It was really strange to be waiting in line to pay my respects and people were 'dancing' in the the spirt and talking in tongues.
Reply:I would go to talk about the themes in the Bible, as long as its non-denominational, and there is free dialog. Not too preachy too.
Reply:I've been to a few Bible studies in my time. I have walked out of a few as well. I can't stand when so-called Christians act as if they are speaking for God. For me, God is love and to lash out in hate and damnation is not cool at all.
Reply:Well i went to a bible study once, and the people there where rude, they weren't prepared to talk about anything-so they opend the bible randomly and started reading. i left, because i wasnt getting anything out of it. but i like going to a bible study when it is focusing on issues that i am dealing with.
Reply:What would make me come: the group is open minded people genuinely interested in discussing different interpretations and thoughts about the Bible and truly learning without being judgmental of each other or arguing.
