Here is a question we were given in Bible Study.?

There are 10 instances in the Bible where God or Jesus addresses a man by using his name twice (ex: Acts 9:4, Saul, Saul). Three instances are in the New Testament. Can anyone help with this question?

Here is a question we were given in Bible Study.?
Jesus said Simon, Simon to Peter.

Luk 22:31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

Luke 10:41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:

%26amp;

Genesis 22:11 And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.

%26amp;

Exodus 3:4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

%26amp;

Genesis 46:2 And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night, and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.

%26amp;

1 Samuel 3:10 And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

I don't know where the other two are off the top of my head.
Reply:What about in the garden of Eden when God was looking for Adam, he said "Adam, Adam, Where are you, man?"

Reply:I know he spoke the names of Lazaras, Peter(simon), John the Baptist for sure. As far as the others, I'm in the dark.

Reply:luke 10:41 "Martha, Martha"

exodus 3:4 "Moses!, Moses!
Reply:The first one was said shallower and the next one was louder. Saul was in a stoned haze. Jesus wanted him to pass.
Reply:Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.” Luke 22:31

“Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?” Acts 9:4

“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, but you were not willing!” Luke 13:34

Martha, Martha...

Samuel, Samuel...
Reply:I'll answer a portion of your question that perhaps your teacher doesn't know.

It is said that when God calls you repeating your name, calling you twice HE is calling both the physical person and the Spiritual person.

This is a time to pay close attention.

One of the others that He called by name twice was Moses.

But then your not going to learn by me giving you the answers.

God Bless.
Reply:I have no idea, but why is your Bible study group concerned with this? Aren't there more substantial, meaty topics you could be talking about instead of silly trivial things?
Reply:Not to be a Nay Sayer but you were given this question to spark you to search out the Bible for yourself. Wouldn't this be cheating?
Reply:How would learning the answer to such a question,help you in spiritual development?

Tell me,do they ask you -

Why is there so much suffering?

What happens when we die?

What is God's Kingdom?

What is God's name?

Why did Jesus sacrifice his life for us?

What is God's plan for the earth?

How many will be going to heaven?

These are the type of questions that will help one mature as a Christian.

You would do well to contact Jehovah's Witnesses who would be more than happy to conduct a free home bible study with you.They have a thorough and deep understanding of the Bible
Reply:you could probably find the answer on christian/catholic websites. i noticed someone said that there was better meaty substanced questions you pastor could ask you to do however, i would assume the task was to get the kids thinking, improve their research skills especially in a christian capacity and to also read their bible more, such a task might even have them working better as a team.
Reply:What question ? You made a statement and asked for an answer. Can't be done.
Reply:What about when Jesus said, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" before he died?
Reply:Men need to be told everything twice before they "get it".
Reply:Psalms 81:10.
Reply:use your concordance.
Reply:I don't know the answer, but I am sorry for all the rude postings that you are getting in response. They are uncalled for. It's not like you are pushing religion on anyone or insulting anyone else's beliefs.

Sheesh, you can't even ask a benign religious question in the R%26amp;S category without getting attacked.
Reply:hey that's pretty cool, i wonder why too.
Reply:To the person who told the original poster to "get out." This is the religion and spirituality section. If you don't want to read about religion, you should get out. Also, learn some manners. You need some.
