It's not as widely read as it's circulation indicates, but it's held up by some as an important guide to life. What happens when we study the Bible and apply what it says?
What does it mean to study the Bible?
It may mean that Jesus is speaking into your heart and triggering questions in your mind.
It is a far better idea to study the bible than it is to rely on anything said in church. Never make the mistake of trusting anyone else's interpretation without checking it and thinking about it critically, especially if they use jargon. Almost anything, including extremely evil things, can be justified by misinterpreting a single verse or passage. So always dig around a subject, compare passages and ask yourself plenty of questions.
Learning takes effort, but it is much harder to un-learn things: for example when we read the scriptures and suspect that some idea we hold dear, might be inaccurate. Being open and prepared to re-think things, is however a great asset which will repay you many times over.
Lastly, ask yourself what the actions you read about are saying to you. In the west, we miss 50% of the message, because we are only looking at the words spoken.
Reply:If you really want to study the bible it means that you want to know the message that god send us.
If this is the case, you do not need anybody to explain you the meaning of the wards. God will let you know what you need.
Do not forget Religion is all about belief not understanding
I have been educated by Jesuits and I am not Catholic any longer
Reply:I've met and worked with quite a few people that would go to Bible study classes-born again as I would call them. It seems to me rather than studying they are given interpretations of various parts of the Bible and told to accept it. There seems to be little insight into the whys and more a concentration on accepting it at face value. I was interested in learning about why they believe what they believe but on talking to people involved in Bible study it just seems a waste of time and effort.
Reply:When you imply the action to "study the Bible", I read Scripture and reflect on it and try to apply it to my current life and maybe about the past as well. Sometimes it will hit you straight in the face with something in your life, and sometimes it will take awhile to interpret, but in the end, it's truly worth it.
If you are sincerely interested in learning more about God, you should look up some RELIABLE sources on the Web to learn, or go visit a church of some sort.
Reply:It means you are wasting your time.
Reply:Then we become weird.
Reply:We get extremely bored and doubtful
Reply:It depends on which part you intend to put unto practice. If you start slaughtering sheep and cows to sacifice then nothing will happen at all. If you apply the principles of the New Covenant then you will start to see changes in your life assuming you are born again.
Reply:It will transform your life. Start with LUKE
Reply:To understand more about God
Reply:"This means everlasting life, there taking in knowledge of you the only true God and of the one you sent forth. Jesus Christ."
John 17 v 3
Reply:i think to study the bible, means to go into theology and the past life in jerusalem,to find out if the stories about jesus could be justified.
