Why is it so hard for people to actually study the bible before they make unintelligent comments about God and His attributes. People spill out what they think but never really know or have a deeper understanding of what or who God really is. Why is it that people listen to what is told to them but never go back to the source of the matter?
Why is it so hard for people to study the bible?
I don't really know why they do that, but Most are because they have not been shown. Alot of people go to church, But not many are really there. Some peeps know. and they are only kidding themselves. But at some point they will.. It is only a time table . God will get to them at some point. Not in our time, but his. Hope it's durning their life time as well. ;) good luck. and you are prob gonna get some bad stuff, but it's ok, cause we know the truth :) Happy easter.
Reply:Young people today grew up with fast-paced cartoons, video games, and other forms of instant gratification. They never had to read, as the books have always been on CD or MP3. They never had to learn, because the answers were given to them (God help a teacher who tries to fail a student...she gets fired!).
So, why would they study the Bible? They just sit back and wait for someone (who may or may not know what they are talking about) to tell them the answer...and then repeat it.
Reply:There are many reasons.
Laziness is the main reason. Busyness comes in second....we just don't have the time. When we do have the time ... we don't study because we are lazy.
For the most part I find that people "say" they are Christians. When it comes down to putting action to their beliefs...it usually doesn't happen. Most of us would agree that our own churches have many "lost" people in them. They come Sunday after Sunday and scripture does nothing to them or for them. They are fooling themselves, and sometimes the saved, into thinking they are one of the flock. An unsaved person in our church will come to church but not be in the Word.
So, things like church membership, financially supporting a church, serving, and studying the Word is getting rarer and rarer. People don't like commitments...look at the Christian marriage-divorce rate.
On the positive side...you have hunger for the Word. That is a gift from Him. He gives some an extra dose of desire for the Word. Use it for teaching!!
Ephes. 4:11-12 (NKJV)
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, [12] for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
Reply:Well the Bible certainly isn't the place to learn about the true nature of God; that can only come from one's own heart and soul. Also, it's pretty hard for a reasonable, THINKING person to study the Bible when it's filled with contradictions and outright disagreements between its numerous authors.
God should be spelled B-I-G B-A-N-G

Reply:well, there are many reasons..people often rely too much on what has been preached to them over the years..."well I go to such and such church and my pastor says..." The thing is, we are not supposed to be following any man! Another reason is that sometimes there are mental blocks standing in the way of comprehending what the person is reading. There are times that I have to go back and read over a verse three or four times before I really understand what is being said. Some people don't want to take the time to do that.
The thing is, there are deeper depths and higher heights to be reached by searching the WORD of GOD, and by seeking HIS face...HE tells us those that seek HIM will find HIM.
Sometimes I question if people really want to find HIM...because it means stepping away from tradition and what has been taught over years and years of time.
Reply:i agree with you. many of the bible's biggest critics are people who have read little of it, and have little understanding of it.
i've come to realize that you can manipulate and twist anything. anything. even the word of god.
Reply:I would like to ask the same question to you WHY IS IT SO HARD FOR YOU TO STUDY THE HOLY QURAN BEFORE YOU EVEN JUDGE IT. If you want to be fair i would advice you use same logic for all things.
Reply:That is a good question. The reason it so hard for people to study the bible cause they are afraid of the truth and then it will cramp there life style. Because if you belive in God you know that he holds you to all things that you have knowledge of the bible even states that My people perish for there lack of knowledge. People want to fit God into their life needs. They read only the familiar things in the Bible Like the Lord's Prayer. Psalms 23. John 3:16. They don't want to read that Man will rob God in tithes and offerings That if they don't pay there tithes that they will be cursed with a curse. That sinning brings on sickness. They want to keep it simple. But they are really hurting themselves.
Reply:Because men wrote the Bible not god. Why should i take the writings of a bunch of guys as the absolute truth? How do i know for a fact that those guys are not biased and only wrote down what they wanted us to believe? Did Jesus write the bible? NO. Did God write the bible? NO. Is it possible that a few guys got together one day, smoked up some grass and made some sh1t up to get people to follow them and listen to them? YES.
Reply:Got better things to do :-)
Reply:I believe people don't study the Bible because of influence. The devil knows that there is truth and power in knowing GOD's word, so if he can get inside your mind and influence you not to read the Bible or for that sake, not even pick it up he will and unfortunately he does.
